Jill Hummel is a Senior Advisor at InTandem Capital.  She is a seasoned health care strategist and advisor who has held a variety of senior leadership roles with payer and provider organizations.  Most recently, Ms. Hummel served as the president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut.  In this role she had P&L responsibility for Anthem’s local commercial group and individual business.

Prior to assuming that role, Ms. Hummel was Vice President of Payment Innovation for Anthem nationally.  In this position, she was accountable for developing provider payment models, clinical programs and complementary enablement tools that promote improvements in health, health care outcomes, patient experience and affordability. During this time, she led the design and implementation of the largest commercial value-based payment program in the country.

Before joining Anthem, she worked for UnitedHealthcare in a variety of capacities including as the northeast regional vice president for network management, national vice president for hospital network management and as the chief operating officer of UnitedHealthcare of the Midwest, Inc.  Other prior work includes her role as associate general counsel with BJC HealthCare in St. Louis.

Ms. Hummel has also served on many nonprofit boards.  This includes her service as a board member and past chair of the Primary Care Collaborative, a nationally recognized organization dedicated to promoting high performing primary care as the foundation of an effective, efficient and equitable health care system as well board positions with the Health Information Alliance (Connecticut’s health information exchange) and Qualidigm.

Ms. Hummel remains passionate about driving better health, patient experience and health care value and currently focuses her efforts on supporting organizations that have a mission consistent with that goal.  She proudly serves as an independent director for Diameter Health and Upswing and as a senior advisor to Origin Healthcare and InTandem Capital Partners.
